He says his fingers are in extreme pain, and it would literally open their hands after sanding. She said her hands hurt the next day.

It sounds like tendinitis. Maybe I should be a hand surgeon as soon as possible. You can also use something like rheumatoid arthritis, which can make a quick blood test.
