Is it safe to keep your GPS in the car? - gps l

I have a Garmin StreetPilot i3, I think in the car when I'm sitting in the car? My car has dark tinted windows legal

I live in Houston, Texas, that the heat damage to the GPS, if what I think it is under the seat?

I do not know what is the threshold of heat, but temperatures in the car more than 110 degrees, which does not keep the electronics in the car.
I think a bigger threat to steal.
I know nothing about Houston know, but San Francisco is about to enter his car when they see a penny in the seat.
A GPS would be a target too tempting not to respond to this risk.

I have no chance. I want to take with you and not leave it in the car.
